Initiated in 2012, SCEDs document typical conditions of use of consumer products, expressed in a format that can be fed into the commonly applied exposure assessment tools. SCEDs are intended to represent realistic assumptions for consumer exposure assessments. In addition, SCEDs define consumer exposure determinants, enabling a refined exposure assessment by REACH registrants using ECETOC TRA v3.1.

Today, SCEDs facilitate harmonisation and efficient communication through the supply chain regarding conditions of safe use of consumers’ products.

Building on the work with the multi-stakeholder SCEDs task force chaired by DUCC & CONCAWE, A.I.S.E. developed SCEDs factsheets for a range of popular consumer products such as detergents and air care products. The factsheets and supporting explanation document are now published on www.aise.eu. REACH registrants are warmly invited to take the data available in the factsheets into account for the new substance registrations (2018) or for registration file updates, as appropriate.
