A.I.S.E. welcomes the European Commission and OECD campaign on the safe use of liquid laundry detergent capsules. This campaign reinforces the KEEP CAPS FROM KIDS campaign launched by the detergents industry in September 2014.
These capsules are daily used by millions of consumers who appreciate their convenience.
Like any other detergent, the liquid laundry detergent capsules must be stored in a safe place and they must always be kept out of the reach of children.
Manufacturers of liquid laundry detergent capsules have already taken action to reduce the number of accidental exposures involving children, through product and packaging modifications as well as on pack guidance and proactive communication campaigns such as the pan-European A.I.S.E. KEEP CAPS FROM KIDS initiative (www.keepcapsfromkids.eu).
We are also actively preparing for the implementation of new legislative requirements adopted in December 2014 and applicable by 1st June 2015 for this product category.
A.I.S.E. is pleased to note the first positive impact of these initiatives on accidental exposures, with a reduction of about 30% less exposures.
The www.keepcapsfromkids.eu media campaign has reached end 2014 more than 97 Mn European consumers
The above yellow patch is found on all packs of liquid laundry detergents and consistently used by the sector since 2013 to alert consumers and promote the safe use of these products
A.I.S.E’s KEEP CAPS FROM KIDS programme is supported by the European Child Safety Alliance and more than 20 partners in Europe from Ministries, Poisons Control Centers, and safety associations.
