Since 2004, A.I.S.E. has communicated safe use guidance for consumer products on the on-pack labels of detergent and maintenance products, through a series of icons with an accompanying call to action. These 'safe use icons' are in use on billions of products across Europe, and they have been updated over the years. A set of four new icons were developed in 2012 particularly targeted at liquid detergent capsules, such as laundry detergents, automatic dishwashing detergents or laundry additives.
Today, a fifth icon for liquid detergent capsules has been launched by A.I.S.E. which aims to prevent consumers from tearing apart capsules that can be stuck together, due for example to humidity or use with wet hands. Manufacturers placing these products on the market will begin to integrate this icon on the artwork of relevant packs, to increase consumer awareness of the need for safe use.
The A.I.S.E. safe use icons are available to all companies placing products on the market, wither or not they are a member of A.I.S.E.. All 13 icons and the accompanying guidelines for use may be downloaded from the A.I.S.E. website. The calls to action are translated into 29 European languages for local use.
